Public Rights Project
Public Rights Project gives state and local public entities the talent, resources, and support they need to protect their residents’ legal rights. Focusing in three core areas of legal impact – economic justice, racial and gender justice, and environmental justice – Public Rights Project recruits talented attorneys to work as 2-year fellows in state and local government and helps those offices build their capacity for proactive rights enforcement. As the federal government abandons enforcement of civil rights, consumer rights, and environmental laws, federal inaction places states and cities on the front lines of protecting people from discrimination, fraud, and disenfranchisement. Public Rights Project provides their reinforcements.
