Joseph Niver

Joseph will join Make the Road New Jersey as a Justice Catalyst Fellow, where he will address systemic employment law violations in the logistics industry.Joseph will leverage Make the Road New Jersey’s workers’ committee in Elizabeth, NJ and existing community organizing throughout New Jersey to tackle the wage theft, denial of sick leave, and discrimination endemic among temp agency employers in New Jersey, especially as these practices affect immigrant and formerly incarcerated workers. Passionate about the intersection of workers’ rights and immigrants’ rights, at NYU Law Joseph has focused on public policy advocacy, as well as immigration, labor and employment law, enrolling in NYU Law’s Brennan Center Public Policy Advocacy Clinic and NYU Law’s Immigrant Defense Clinic, and completing internships at Safe Passage Project, Make the Road NY’s Workplace Justice Team, New York State United Teachers, and Central American Refugee Center. He is also a graduate of Vassar College, with a B.A. in Political Science and Hispanic Studies.
