TJ Grayson

TJ Grayson (he/him/his) will be working at the Advancement Project, National Office, as a Justice Catalyst Fellow/Staff Attorney in their Justice Project. There, he will work to support abolitionist campaigns to end police violence, with a particular focus on addressing the power and influence of police unions. He is a 2021 graduate of Yale Law School and 2016 graduate of UC Berkeley. At Yale, he was the President of the Black Law Students Association, Co-Director of Yale Law’s 2020 Critical Race Theory Conference on Reparations and Prison Abolition, co-facilitator of the Spring 2020 Critical Race Theory reading group, and a member of OutLaws and First-Generation Professionals. He also worked as a research assistant for Professor James Forman Jr. and the Yale Law Justice Collaboratory and as a Coker Teaching Fellow in constitutional law with Professor Samuel Moyn, participated in the Advanced Appellate Litigation and Strategic Advocacy clinics, and published pieces on policing in The Washington Post, Slate Magazine, and The Journal of Law, Medicine, & Ethics. During his summers in law school, he worked on issues related to policing, gun violence, and prison litigation at the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel LLP, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
